Bennett Daniel Prose
Grade 2

Monday, March 30, 2015

Sitting on the white couch, Harper is lovingly taking care of her curly haired baby, creatively named - Curly. She looks and me and asks if Bennett was in daddy's tummy, because I got to have her in my tummy. Hmmmm.... I remind myself to respond with short answers - the best strategy to see what they already know, and to find out what they actually want to know.

"No." I say.
"Well, who was in daddy's tummy?"
"No one."
"So, daddies don't get to have babies in their tummies?"
"No, just mommies."
"Oh. So, what - actually - do the daddies do?"

Careful. Careful. At this point, andy entered the conversation with a raised eyebrow over the head of our sweet daughter.

"Ummm... They help. They help the mommy when the baby comes." I am pretty proud of my response, and look to the girl to see if it's acceptable.

"THAT'S IT?!?!?!?!?"

Well no, not exactly. But, we will save the rest of this conversation for later.

It was a big day for our beloved Blu B(eauty). She turned today.

So, cheers to things you have see and heard (we appreciate your discretion) - the miles you have traveled - and the weather you have survived.  You are a loyal friend. Here's to the next 100K.

Saturday morning began with an "easy fix". AP got right to the leaking tub,
which wouldn't take too long... While the work ensued, colie and I brought the kids on a walk/run around the neighborhood and into the arboretum. Harper is getting pretty good form (much less Phoebe like) and ran ahead encouraging me to hurry up. When she tired, she would stop and stretch and wait for the rest of us.

A few miles later, we returned and found
the job had become a bit larger than anticipated, with some rotting Sheetrock and poor pipes. As Andy went to Home Depot and back again, we decided granola and cocktails were in order.
And some more outdoor fun.
We helped the plumber when he instructed,
And finally convinced him to take a break for a late lunch and trip to the badger store so we could gather some new gear for the game.
Best part of the weekend for B "watching the Badgers with Colie." And H "making the chalk family" and AP says with a smirky grin "fixing the shower" and for me just being w my favorite sister. And, Jack Dawson. He's pretty much my favorite, too.

Wisconsin Roadtrip! We all took a personal day and packed up the prius. For the first 25 minutes, the ninja and the gnome read their respective books.
Then they chatted and sang and kept their hands to themselves and finally, 4hrs and 45min in to the drive, they slept.
Upon arrival there were snacks and drinks and stories and yoga.  But, this weekend roadtrip was already making its mark with a few firsts:  a bubble wrap fashion show and
a quintessential WISCO supper club fish fry! Seriously, I can't believe we have never done that before.
And - N & H donned their heart PJs (at 6:45pm) and we watched "Titanic" both discs. Omg, I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!

All is right in the world.

So much love and thanks to Grammy and Grampy for loving them up the past few days, and sending H home with a CD for the car with twenty sing alongs and a laser pointer for B and the kitties. We love you so much and are so grateful. After AP got his big hugs, they said "when can we go back, daddy?!?!" Soon! Very soon!

Class notes:
-Finland school system apparently is super awesome... Maybe I should consider a move...
-students in catholic school are still "sent to the nuns" for poor handwriting
-your tongue has a unique print, just like your finger
-how about just giving them cardboard to cut up for 49 minutes?
-must download and install dyslexia font (dyslexie)
-Dangerous things we should let kids do: play with a sharp knife and climb trees.

It's pretty quiet on the home front.  It's also pretty weird.  The last two days, I have gotten home and kind of roamed around before my run.  I have gotten in decent steps, wearing both earplugs - which is kind of a treat.  Then, the Mister arrives, and looks at me like "what now?" and we decide to eat tacos.  Two nights in a row, supper in bed and at least three episodes of "Game of Thrones" - which is also kind of a treat.

But, those Littles better return home soon because we miss them, and if they don't we will get super fat.

This morning, I was wondering what ever will I blog about, while the main characters are away.  Andy and I are not nearly as entertaining, so I thought I would have to come up with something creative.  Maybe I could have mom send me daily pics, and T suggested that B be in charge of a post or two.  Both very possible options - and then I saw the photo stream from this morning.
Ha!  Gotta love the Cloud!

Sartell school district has spring break.  Ms. Kelli's School of Pre has spring break. Milaca school district does not have spring break.  That means a week of child care is necessary for the Prose children, and once again - GRAMMY AND GRAMPY TO THE RESCUE!!! The official drop off point was Motley, MN, and there is nothing like the look of pure joy on everyone's face (even though there was a minor meltdown in the morning, when Harper figured out that I was not spending the week at Rose Lake, too...)

Immediately upon leaving those two, the weird feeling of something huge missing, and kinda being on vacation set in.  Andy stopped to check out an Airstream he has been coveting,
and then we did what every person on vacation does...  We went to the bar.
I love not having Spring Break.

Saturday stay home day in Morningstar, began with the usual laundry and house puttering and lounging.
By mid afternoon, we were all a bit restless, so we bundled up to do some wood working.
"Girls don't really think cutting up trees is very much fun."
and Christmas tree burning - thanks to Scott and Laura we had double the fun.
This activity more exciting than laundry, and smelled so good! After the flames were contained, we celebrated with bacon bleu burgers and our favorite neighbors.
Happy happy 56, 06, 13!!!

Friday night in Morningstar, so many options, but apparently the best choice was an early night. Early like dinner and drink and dessert and sleeping by 7pm?
Sign the Mister up. The ninja was sleeping by 7:10pm and the gnome 7:25pm. That leaves mama to snuggle in and catch up on some quality TV. As Grampy's favorite mantra goes "life is good.".

Bennett spent his day at home recovering and channeling his Great Uncle Dave.
When the spirit refused to talk to him, B found an app for that.
