the sqrl

With Bennett missing so much school lately, he was not happy about going back.  He was anxious about being behind, he was getting used to laying around the house, and watching Scooby Doo.  He didn't want to go, his stomach hurt, he cried and hid under the covers.

I have been on the other side of this situation many times in my career.   I have had parents call and email, and even come into school very concerned about their student.  "Please let me know how Susie is doing.  She had a rough morning." I always tell parents the same thing, "Susie is just fine!  Once they get here, they are always ok."

Well, being the parent now, I was worried about poor little Benito.  He did have a rough morning, and I was thinking about him and wondering if he was crying at school.  But, I did NOT send an email or call Ms. Blomgren.  She beat me to it.
Hi Gina,

Just wanted to quick send a note about how glad we are to have Bennett back.  He mentioned the flu traveled around your house, hope everyone is feeling better. Had to share this picture from last week, he was excited to share his non-fiction journal of an squirrel with labels. Look at that sentence too... Love it! Have a good day!

PS: The sentence reads, "I labld the sqrl."

Infestation

It started 14 days ago, when the nurse called me from school.  "I have Bennett in the nurse's office."  Poor little bugger threw up (in the bathroom) and had a fever.  Andy picked him up, I came home early, and so began our bout of the Prose Plague 2013.

The fever lasted 3 days for B, and was a solid 103*.  As his temp finally broke, the girl warmed right up.  Andy and I did our best to take turns going to work,  managing the medication and patients.

One week later, everyone had some energy back, and was at a normal (or close to normal) temperature.  I sent everyone to school and work.  Then, came the call from Ms. Kelli.

This time, we needed buckets.  The bucket flu entered our house, and didn't leave until it had been shared with everyone.  It was a disaster, but I was so grateful that we all were not sick at once.  I was well enough to take care of Andy and the kids, and Andy was well enough to take care of me.  Also,  Harper takes direction well, and learned how to use her bucket.

We missed school, we missed our neighbors, we missed a birthday party.

But, today's a new day, and we are back!!

April Fools!!

Today is April Fools Day.  And, because the calendar is perfect this year, we don't have school!!  (Pretty sure I've stated this before, but April Fools Day and Halloween should always fall on a non-school day.)  This foolish day happened to be my last day of "Spring Break"

The day began with, what some would think, the best April Fool's Prank in a long time.  AP joined (the) Facebook - only for networking purposes, of course.

The kiddos got to pick lunch, and played so much that a nap was required by all.
And, the snow is melting!  We have an official grass path.  No Joke!  Can't wait for Spring!
