When your family tells you this is what your hair looks like, you should possibly consider making an appointment.

Thanks for the starter, T. And the step by step videos. You should definitely have your one you tube channel.😂

June 12-19 - Westward Bound! RT 22 sent us the route of the pioneers in search of countryside and cowboys. Highlights:
We considered checking out Yellowstone, but was detoured due to the 500 year flood.
I drove exactly 0 miles and 0 hours.
We almost ran out of gas.
We were able to tour T's childlife homes, and walk (and sometimes run) down memory lane.
Wildlife included bison, but no bear.
It was freezing, and I had to spend my souvenir money on a new winter coat.
Horseback riding was actually quite fun.
"Paint Your Wagon" is actually quite racist.
Officially "bear spray" trained.
Rodeos are weird.
Pretty solid food, and beer.
I love my person.

I hate that I am typing this post. Another school shooting, and more thoughts and prayers.  When is it enough? When will enough kids die from active shooter, that common sense gun legislation is enacted? When will grown ups stop thinking and praying - and start doing something? And, while it hurts my heart, watching the advocacy and activist of these kids is so incredibly inspiring.  They give me hope.

12. This year, Harper requested a pool party with and outdoor movie and ice cream sundae bar. Ask and ye shall receive! The party guests arrived, and didn't stop swimming and playing - until the bugs came out. The outdoor movie was brought indoors, and at 10pm, Bennett was able to practice his night driving skills and bring the guests home. Win for everyone!

Sweet, sweet Harper.  You are so brave, and we love watching you try new things. People matter to you. Connections matter to you. Your empathy for others is incredible (just don't let it overwhelm you). You are kind and considerate, and so smart. You are our very favorite 'tween. And, we love you. Like a lot.

How is it we are here already? And, how is it that it took this long to get here? This year was weird. School has felt kinda normal, but also kinda not. We are still working and learning during a global pandemic, but starting to see the transition out of it. We all had a successful year, but I'm also pretty sure we are all ready for a break. Just not sure the kitties are ready to have people home with them every day...

What's this, you may ask? Well, that is the giant meat smoker that is used for our "last day of school" potluck. It is parked right outside my classroom window, so my room smells like meat. All day long. 😣
