Sixth Grade winter band concert was tonight - and I must say, it didn't disappoint. The band director, Mr. Martinson, is a wizard with some pretty serious sorcery. He is able to take 150 5th graders, who have never touched an instrument, and in one short year, turn them into legit musicians. The kind of musicians that parents don't even have to lie and say "You sounded great, kid!!" because those kids really did sound great!! It's quite impressive. And, anytime Bennett can wear his wooden boy tie, it's a winning night for us.
Year 18 of blogging about the Ninja and the Gnome. We continue to laugh more than we cry. Enjoy as the hilarity ensues.

This hat is so old, circa 1984? from Grampy's tenure at PCA (some Pword Credit Association, maybe Production?), and must be made out of some quality threads. Harper wears it every single day, and most often doesn't even take it off to go to bed. Aside note: She does, however, shed her coat - usually on the floor somewhere, and then has to be reminded to put it in the closet hook...

Grab the chainsaw and the fuzzy hats, and we're off to find the tree, Clark!
Papa and Grandma asked us to come with them on their tree hunt, and while I wouldn't normally drive 90 minutes to cut down a tree, Papa told us they were the best trees around, and I wouldn't pass up the opportunity to hang out with my favorite Prose people. So off we went, in search of the perfect - short needle - tree.We found the perfect short needle tree for us, the fattest tree for Grandma and a tall skinny one for Auntie. After filling up the truck, Harper slid her hand in mine and smiled up at me. She said "Mama. I found a tree for my room. Wanna see??" She and the Boy ran ahead to the most perfect little tree. She asked in an unsure voice, "Can I get it?" and I could tell by the look exchanged with her brother, both had predicted a negative response. However, there was absolutely 100% no way I could ever say "no" to this request and the sparkle in her eyes. "You sure can, Harps. Go get Daddy and the saw." She grabbed Bennett's hand and they sprinted away - before I could change my mind, even though I never would.
It was a perfect day, filled with perfect people and four perfect trees.

November's ProJac Extravaganza was a spur of the moment trip to the ballet! The Jacobson girls arrived right on time, with sparkly dresses and new shoes. Harper shared her glam squad with her besties, and off we went.
The highlights - it was long, and Little H started requesting to go home about 6 minutes in. But, she's a trooper and powered through. T did her best to not laugh out loud at the mustached man, but failed a time or two. Lola practiced her compare and contrasting skills by giving me a loudly whispered play by play on how this production was not like the movie, and Harper smiled quietly in the beginning and was giving sign language of "when can we leave?" by the end. There was beer, and the tickets were cheap. I'm glad we went - but not sure we'd attend this specific ballet again... 😂

Happy 42, AP! Your day was pretty perfect, too, just like your mini-me. You requested "nothing special", but we did our best to be non-compliant. The neighbors brought over homemade cards, and Harps and I stocked your sauna. Bennett could barely contain his excitement to give you the engraved knife. We all went to bed early (it was a school night), but not before a delicious, creamy cheese cake and song. We love you!
