A Weekend in October

The first weekend in October has become a marathon tradition for us.   Bennett, Harper and I traveled to "T's World" Friday after school, and met Nicole.  All of us sleeping over at T's, not a big deal - but Matt being there - total big deal.  By far, this was one of the best weekends of autumn.  There were so many reason that made this weekend memorable, in addition to having so many of my favorite people all together.  I made a list.

Reason #1: The Tent
Terrin and Matt recently added a room to their condo.  While the room is still under some construction, it was perfect for us to crash.  T and Matt constructed the tent for Bennett to sleep.  Seriously - best idea ever. (Harper slept in the laundry room.)

Reason #2 The Photo Opportunities
No suprise, there was walking around the city, eating and snapping (senior) pics.
Reason #3 The Boat Ride
We took a boat ride down the Mighty Mississippi.  It was beautiful, bursting with fall colors.  We had wine and cheese and cheetos and a fishing pole.  Matt taught Bennett to fish, using a real worm.  Listening to Matt explain the intricacies of casting, while Bennett sat attentively listening, was by far my favorite moment of the evening, quite possibly the season.

#4 The Race
Last year, we were able to watch AP run.  This year, was much less stressful, as we were able to watch only strangers run.  Andy joined us early Sunday morning, to gather the perspective of the spectator.  I'm pretty sure he will run again.  Next time, I'm making him a shirt with his name on it.
