Continuing with the fun sqeezing - the late Sunday Family Fun Day continued with some quick school shopping for Mama and an evening of bowling. Bennett is a beast at the game, and Harper (while very slowly) even managed to beat Kylee - who does have her very own ball and shoes... One would think she would perform better than a 5 year old, right?
Two more sleeps until school!
Year 18 of blogging about the Ninja and the Gnome. We continue to laugh more than we cry. Enjoy as the hilarity ensues.

The last weekend of summer, the Prose family made the decision to sqeeze every last bit of fun out of it. We headed to Two Rivers Tubing and Camping (aka The Thomas Camper) for a weekend of blazing fun. We swam and biked and played bean bags and made smores by the fire. Harper continued to find her inner bravery and went on her first motorcycle ride and made a new friend from a neighboring campsite. It was a HOT one, but more fun than hot. Thanks for the hopsitality, TRays!

One of the major benefits of this new gig, is that my commute is 2 minutes. And, I have "teacher time" in the building 365 days a year from 6am-11pm - all I need to do is flash my badge to unlock the door, and I'm in. Those who know me well, know that I love to putter around - and that's exactly what I can now do in my classroom... And, I love it.

School shopping with Grammy!!!! We have been waiting and waiting for this day, and counting the sleeps on the calendar until Grammy and Grampy arrive... They did, and didn't disappoint. Grammy scheduled a separate day for each student - and shopped and lunched and made some memories, all the while picking out perfect shoes with corresponding outfits.
I am so grateful that Grammy takes the kids school shopping. Every September, I remember when my grandma would take Nicole and I shopping - each on our own day - it certainly wasn't about the clothes we came home with...

Wednesday was Open House for the third graders - Bennett and Ms. Prose. Because I was meeting and greeting my kiddos, I wasn't able to attend B's open house. Because I wasn't able to attend B's open house, there are no pictures to document the evening. But, I'm told it was "AWESOME!". Bennett has tons of friends in his class, and Ms. Perious is exactly who he was hoping for as a teacher. She must be pretty awesome, because Bennett received this in the mail today before open house. He was so excited to get real mail from his teacher - connected even before school starts. Well played, Perious. Well played.

Open House day for our kindergartner was tonight. This is the night you go meet your teacher, and drop off your supplies and check out the new digs. Kinder open house is the night before the rest of the building - which is incredibly smart - as this can be overwhelming for many kids (our's included) and having less bodies in the building definitely helps.
Harps was nervous - but excited. We chatted a bit prior to leaving the house. We agreed there would be "NO THUMB SUCKIN'" and no tears. Harper knew she could hold my hand, and stand real close, but she would participate in meeting and greeting her teacher, Mrs. Hurdt. We practiced our deep breaths and away we went!
She was nervous, and hid her head for the first few minutes, but that's all it took. After a scavenger hunt around the room, and practicing her lunch number in the cafeteria and a bus ride on the big yellow bus - Harper Nicole was counting the sleeps until kindergarten.
