How else would a 16 year old want to celebrate his birthday, other than with his favorite people, eating indigenous food, going to a museum and listening to Bob Dylan??

 

Happy happy sixteen, Bennett Daniel! We celebrated for days, and the gifts included so many of your favorite things, and one incredibly sweet backpack (that guarantees it will be able to provide weeks worth of wardrobe). 

 

I've never been one to be sad on my kids' birthday. While understandable, I don't get the "stop growing up" feels. I honestly love watching them grow, learn independence, try new and scary things, make mistakes and succeed. But, this one. This one hits a little different. Happy #16, B. You never cease to awe and inspire, challenge and encourage. Off you go, kid. And, because you are the oldest young man in the world, I know you will go slowly.

October 2022: Harper earns the favorite fan award for the XC season. We were also able to spend the long weekend with Grammy and Grampy in Madison visiting Nicole. The weather was incredible - perfect for out door biking and hiking. Halloween's theme was anything NEON, and she ventured out of Morningstar for the first time- of course, hitting up all the houses with full size candy bars (while still being home in time for bed).
